The CIT Crawford College of Art and Design will host a creatively themed series of Professional Development Masterclasses. The series of practical and hands on workshops is designed specifically for Early Years and Childcare professionals and will be facilitated by award winning Artists and Early Years Arts Practitioners Rachel Doolin and George Hanover.
These CPD Masterclasses will focus on early years experiential and creative play methodologies, with each workshop exploring a different material theme such as: LIGHT Play, PAPER Play, CARDBOARD Play and POP UP Play. ‘Simplicity’ and ‘wonder in the ordinary’ are at the very core of this holistic series of workshops. Artists will guide, offer ideas and materials to inspire and ignite curiosity in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Participants will be encouraged to activate their imaginations and to explore ‘ways to play’ that encourage and embrace spontaneity, open-ended exploration and unpredictable impulses!
Discussion will be encouraged throughout the workshop. We can modify activities and offer alternative solutions to suit individual needs or childcare settings. The workshop will equip participants with the confidence and enthusiasm to share their creative discoveries with children in a thought-provoking and meaningful way. Bring comfortable clothing and a willingness to play!
Rachel Doolin (Visual Artist) and George Hanover (Artist/Actor & Theatre Maker) have a combined experience of over a decade working creatively in the early years sector. In addition to maintaining their independent practices, both artists work with Graffiti Theatre Company’s BEAG Early Years Arts Programme. BEAG Early Years Arts Program is a series of sensory-based artistic play experiences developed for 0-3 years, led by artists from varied arts disciplines and is partnered by the HSE, Cork County Council and Cork City Council.
