MTU Crawford College of Art and Design is a vibrant multi-campus College, which has been providing education in the arts for more than 100 years. Crawford graduates are among Ireland’s top artists, curators, designers, media practitioners, art therapists and art educators.
In addition to all of these careers in the creative and cultural industries, our graduates apply the skills acquired in their art and design education to a wide variety of careers in all sectors, where their ability to think both laterally and critically, their powers of analysis, their exceptional team-working and communication skills and their problem-solving attitudes are all highly valued by employers.
Our three departments, based variously at No. 46 Grand Parade, MTU Bishopstown Campus, Sharman Crawford Street, and the Envision Centre on Sober Lane are: Fine Art and Applied Art; Media Communications and Arts in Health & Education. Between them, they offer courses related to arts practice, to graphic design, digital media design & production, to art education, art therapy, photography, e-learning, journalism and PR. Home to both MTU (Munster Technological University) and UCC (University College Cork), the city is full of student life.
Known as the City of Festivals, Cork was rated the most culturally vibrant city of all of the European cities included in the European Commission’s “Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor 2017" (outranking Paris, Florence and Copenhagen, among others), and Lonely Planet declared Cork the world’s fourth friendliest city, in 2016. The city is small enough to be easily navigated, there’s great music, art, theatre, food and nightlife on offer. The spectacular South and Southwest coasts of Ireland (including the Wild Atlantic Way) are within easy reach.
Many Crawford graduates choose to remain in the city, on graduation, and they continue to enrich its cultural life by initiating new cultural enterprises and/or creative businesses.
