How to Apply

Applications for our full time undergraduate Degree courses are made through the CAO. Specific course information and online application forms for postgraduate courses, short course or evening courses are detailed under each course page in the courses menu or from the Areas of Study. See below for useful links to information about the different types of applications. 

The CAO Process

  • Applications are made through the CAO by the 1st February.
  • You must submit your choices for all restricted courses that require portfolio, no late applications are accepted.
  • Our team will contact you with an invitation to submit your portfolio.
  • Portfolios will be assessed in March & returned to you the same day.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their portfolio assessment by email/post.
  • Offers will be made by the CAO office in August.

Art Portfolio

An Art Portfolio is required as part of your application to: BA (Honours) in Fine Art [CR 200], BA (Honours) in Contemporary Applied Art (Ceramics, Glass, Textiles) [CR 210] and BA (Honours) in Visual Communications [CR 600]

Each year we offer Portfolio Preparation Courses to help students to prepare their portfolios.

Art Portfolio Guidelines

Your Portfolio showcases what interests you, it should show your ability and potential to engage in a challenging and creative contemporary art and design practice.

Your Portfolio will be assessed under the following headings: 

  1. Ideas & Investigation 
  2. Practical Skills & Use of Media
  3. Visual Enquiry, Analysis & Communication  
  4. Selection & Presentation


Interview Guidelines

The Certificate in Principles of Art Therapy & Certificate in Arts & Group Facilitation and MA in Art Therapy require that you attend for interview following application.

Applications made through our Mature student process or from FETAC/QQI or CCPS courses may be required to attend for interview in June. You will be asked to bring your portfolio.
