AREAS OF EXPERTISE: HCI, UX DESIGN, UI DESIGN, VIDEO, ELEARNING, ANIMATION, CREATIVITY STUDIES, DIGITAL SOCIALLY ENGAGED ART

Maria Murray has taught in the Media Communications Department since 2015. Her primary areas of teaching are in UX and UI design, video and elearning. Maria is the Erasmus coordinator for the Creative Digital Media course and has facilitated links with universities in the Netherlands, Finland and Austria.  

Maria is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Applied Psychology in University College Cork. Her PhD research focuses on how creative digital media, specifically digital socially engaged art, might support community resilience in rapidly expanding rural communities. She has presented results from her research so far at the Communities & Technology conferences 2017 and 2019, the Design Research Society 2018 and the Participatory Design Conference 2018. 

Maria is a member of Over The Line studios, Ballyvolane, where she develops her painting practice.
