EMERGE Graduate Window Exhibition & Awards 2021

Established in 2016 the EMERGE Exhibition & Awards by Cork Craft & Design is a platform of support for graduate makers and one of the core events of annual Cork Craft Month in August now in its 12th year.

For the EMERGE Graduate Award 2021 we are delighted to announce a fresh partnership between Friends of the Crawford Art Gallery and Cork Craft & Design formed in order to support and nurture emerging Graduates from the art colleges in the Cork area. The Friends of the Crawford Art Gallery have added a generous studio stipend to the Emerge Award providing 6 months Maker supported studio space in collaboration with Benchspace.

The exhibition showcases selected works of graduating students from Cork including Crawford College of Art & Design (Applied Arts), Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa (Furniture), St. John’s Central College (Jewellery) and new for 2021 participating institutions: West Cork Campus Skibbereen subsidiary of the Cork College of Commerce, and Kinsale College.

The EMERGE Window Exhibition is curated by Renata Pekowska.

This exhibition and award offers to the new graduates an initial opportunity to work with a professional curator and their first exhibition post-graduation. The 2021 EMERGE Exhibition will be showcased in the windows of the MTU Gallery at the historic building of 46 Grand Parade, overlooking one of Cork's most prominent public spaces.
