AREAS OF EXPERTISE: CINEMA HISTORY AND THEORY, EXPERIMENTAL FILM, VIDEO ART & PERFORMANCE

Pádraig Trehy’s teaching is primarily centred around the history, theory and practice of the moving image.  He established Crawford Film Forum in 2017, with support funding from MTU Teaching and Learning Unit, and in 2018 CFF partnered with MTU Arts Office and IndieCORK to establish art(ist) film, the first Irish film festival strand showcasing work from students and graduates of national and international art colleges.  He was awarded a 2016 Teaching Hero Award by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning.  As a filmmaker, Pádraig has been making shorts and documentaries for over twenty years, which have screened nationally and internationally and been funded by Cork Film Centre, The Irish Film Board, Arts Council, RTE, TG4, and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.  His first feature-length documentary Seamus Murphy: A Quiet Revolution was released in 2014 and his first feature film Shem the Penman Sings Again in 2015.
